3-Day CSX Railroad Crossing Closure on US 1 Business in Waycross
WAYCROSS – CSX Railroad has scheduled a 3-day road closure in conjunction with railroad crossing improvements on US 1 Business/State Route 4 Business just south of Blackshear Avenue in the City of Waycross. US1 Business will be closed at the double rail crossing and traffic detoured beginning 7 a.m., Monday, December 19 continuing through 5 p.m., Wednesday, December 21. All work is weather contingent.
During the closure, a detour will be signed as follows:
Motorists traveling northbound on US 1 will turn right onto Tebeau Street; turn left onto Dorothy Street; then turn left onto Blackshear Avenue; continue to US 1 where detour ends.
Motorists traveling southbound on US 1 will turn left onto Blackshear Avenue; turn right onto Dorothy Street; then turn right onto Tebeau Street; continue to US 1 where the detour ends.
Georgia DOT crews will install the road closure and detour. The roadway will reopen early if the CSX work is completed ahead of schedule or could possibly be closed longer if weather delays the work.
